This tool is for windows, and add a shortcut / hotkey, that when activated will browse to the link / path in currently highlighted text.
The selected text may be in any application.
As an example, when a log file contains a path to a file of a folder, highlighting it, then pressing
CTRL +
windows +
O"
(the default shortcut) will summon the windows explorer at this location.
Usually, one had to to a sequence of action to do that, like CTRL-C, windows + R, CTRL-V, and then return.
(as a sidenote, the windows + R shortcut summons the "Run" dialog, which allow to type the name of an executable to launch, or a location to open in the windows explorer)
This manipulation clearly become repetitive after a while. MagicBrowse will also works for HTML links and file names. When encountering a file name (as opposed to a directory name), the
default application will be launched based on the extension of the file.
There is no installer for magic browse currently, the archive only contains a standalone exe.
The current version is a 32 bit executable and has been tested with windows 10 only. Currently, there is no option to
launch MagicBrowse at startup, but this may be emulated by placing the .exe or a shortcut into the Startup folder, as usual.
Current license is "Freeware". This may change in the future.
